By four years into life, most have hopefully completed their transition out of infancy and toddlerhood and are now on their way to becoming fully functioning children. Despite this sudden growth in cognitive ability, however, most memories from this time period ââ¬â in my personal experience ââ¬â are foggy and difficult to recall. As a result, my only methods of journeying back to this era of my life are through the exploration of large, dust-covered photo albums tucked away in closets or attics. One of the relics of this age, carefully preserved behind a thin pocket of plastic and surrounded by images of birthday parties long forgotten, is a picture of me taken by my mother in the late summer of 2004. The date on the photo reads ââ¬Å"8/10/04â⬠in orange lettering in the lower right corner. I had just turned four a couple of months prior. Getting the leave approved and then communicating the same to the applicant became a complex task. As the number of employees in an organization grew, there was an increase in such leave applications. It further increased the email count per day. Leave applications were being made via an e-mail. Though this reduced the burden to an extent, it was still a gruesome task to keep track of all the leave applications made by the employees (Helander, 2014). This gave rise to the need for a centralized system that could help employees leave applications and approvals. The Human Resource Management department of American Human Resources Development Association introduced the concept of leave management system. Leave management system is an application that has been introduced which allows the person in-charge to keep a centralized record of the leave proposals made by the employees. This database works as a virtual basket where such application are stored. The application will carefully record the dates mentioned allocate the same against the record of respective employees making the leave application (Baecker, 2014). Thus, this application will enable the person in-charge to evaluate, verify and cross check the dates for which a leave application is made by an employee. It will cater to a much more efficient manner in which the leave system can be handled and managed according the requirements of the employees and the organization (Meena Sivakumar, 2014). It is often seen that an employee is unable to avail a leave that has been granted to him/her against an application made by such person (Courtois, 2014). This application will enable such employees to exchange the tenure of leaves with other employees online. Once an exchange takes place, the system will be automatically updated to reflect the revised dates of leave of an employee. This application will be launched in two organizations for a pilot test. Data will be collected accordingly from employees and people handling the system. The period of the pilot program, will extent for six months. After six months, a questionnaire will be distributed among the concerned personnel to get their feedback on the system. The sample size is expected to be around 150 employees and around 20 people who will be actively handling the system. After data is collected, a proper classification will be done to evaluate the success or failure. After proper analysis if there is a loophole found in the system, the organisation has to implement necessary measures to ensure smooth functioning of the organisational affairs. There are two primary types of hybrid cars on the market, a standard hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Neither requires that you plug in the car to an electric source, however, with a plug-in hybrid you have the option to do so. The beauty of hybrid cars over gasoline-poweredà cars is that they runà cleaner with fewer emissions, they get better gas mileage, which makes them more environmentally friendly, and depending on the model, you may be eligible for a tax credit. Standard Hybrids Standard hybrids are very much like regular gasoline-powered cars. The only difference is internal- the car can recharge its batteries by reclaiming energy through a process called regenerative braking or while driving on engine power. Standard hybrids do not need to be plugged in. A standard hybrid uses both a gasoline engine and an electric motor to help offset fuel costs and increase gas mileage. When the battery is heavily taxed by a lot of electric motor usage without a lot of braking, the internal combustion engine picks up the slack while the battery comes back up to charge. Hybrids still use gasoline as the primary source of power, you fill up the tank as you normally would. Popular standard hybrid models are the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight. Luxury car makers like Porsche and Lexus in recent years have added hybrids to its fleet of vehicles. Plug-In Hybrids In order to increase electric motor cruising time, some manufacturers are creating plug-in hybrids that have more powerful batteries which can be recharged by ââ¬Å"plugging inâ⬠the vehicle to normal household current. This feature allows the vehicle to perform more like a true electric car and less like a conventional gasoline car, all the while delivering exceptional fuel mileage. Plug-in hybrids, like the Chevrolet Volt, operate in much the same way as a hybrid by providing an all-electric driving range using a battery pack. Once the battery has been depleted, the vehicle can slip back to being a regular fuel-fed hybrid and recharge its batteries using the gasoline-powered motor as a generator. The big difference here is that you can also plug it in and recharge the electric motor instead of using the engine to charge it up. Depending on your driving needs, if you can plan your trips and just drive on electricity and then charge back up, you can go a very long time without having to gas up. All Electric Vehicles Although they are not considered hybrids since they run solely on electricity and are not a hybrid of anything, all-electric vehicles are worthy of mention if saving on gas is what you want to accomplish. All-electric cars like the Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model S, Ford Focus Electric, and Chevy Spark EV run on electricity and use electrons as their solitary source of energy. Vetter (1967) defined human resource planning as the process by which management determines how the organization should move from its current manpower position to its desired position. Through planning, management strives to have the right number and the right kinds of people, at the right places, at the right time, doing things which result in both the organization and the individual receiving maximum long-run benefits. Contemporary human resource planning occurs within the broad context of organizational and strategic business planning. It involves forecasting the organizations future human resource needs and planning for how those needs will be met. It includes establishing objectives and then developing and implementing programs (staffing, appraising, compensating, and training) to ensure that people are available with the appropriate characteristics and skills when and where the organization needs them. It may also involve developing and implementing programs to improve employee performance or to increase employee satisfaction and involvement in order to boost organizational productivity, quality, or innovation (Mills, 1985b). They have widely differing cultures, and these are reflected in their values, ideals and beliefs. The organizations culture is what gives meaning and purpose to the work lives of its members. An organization culture influences its strategy, its ways of doing business and they it responds to change. A strong culture will be beneficial if it focuses on need to change proactively. The culture of an organisation influence the way in which it operates, so it is necessary to understand the culture before deciding how people might contribute to the success or failure of the organisation. Put in simple terms, the culture of an organisation can be defined as: The Way We Do Things Here! Our organisation has a task culture. Task culture-It is very much a small team approach the network organisation small organisations co-operating together to deliver a project. The emphasis is on results and getting things done. Individuals empowered with discretion and control over their work is flexible and adaptable.'(Charles Handy, 1985). In our organisation, Tesco Express, we have team-based approach to perform any job. Team work plays the major role to achieve organizational objectives. The culture of our organization is working as a team, co-operating each other to achieve our goals and objectives. In the team all the staffs are empowered, so they feel motivated and important at work. All the staffs are empowered to make decisions to some extent and they are given responsibilities within the team. So the staffs feel valued and responsible for their jobs. In my work place has nearly 20 Staff. This staffs are from different ethical background and different countries, so various behaviours of team members mesh together in order to achieve objectives. We all work hard successfully in our team. Our manager guides us to do our work properly. 4.3 Examine how the effectiveness of human resources management is monitored in an organisation The Human resource department is the companys greatest asset; because without man power, everyday business functions could be completed. That is why it is important to maximize organizational effectiveness, human potential-individuals capabilities, time, and talents-must be managed. Human resource management works to ensure that employees are able to meet the organizations goals. Companys today are continuously changing. Organizational change has an impact not only the business but also its employees; the company at all time should be considerate to its entire employee. The company and employees should work together in harmony to remain productivity, and the HR manager is the bridge for the company and the employees to understand each other. Every organisation aims to keep a good staff retention record. However, retaining staff can be very time consuming and expensive. To retain staff is to give them reason to stay. This is normally done by giving employees incentives in addition to salary. These incentives normally take financial form; however, other psychological incentives work just as well. These psychological incentives can be as simple as verbal encouragement. This ultimately leads to motivation; therefore better performance. Other forms of psychological incentives include added responsibility and work challenges. Employees not only work for money, they work also to satisfy their psychological needs. As long as incentives are fair, employees will carry on working with more conviction. This will lead to good retention levels and result in lower costs in terms of recruitment. 4.4 Make justified recommendations to improve the effectiveness of human resources management in an organisation. HR manager it is my role to ensure that the organizations objectives and goals are followed by all personnel. Constant communication with the employees and evaluating their performance in their work will help me in this role. Problems in terms of the organizations work force must be immediately resolved in order to prevent unnecessary complexities. Our workforce is the organizations valued asset. It is my duty as HR manager to ensure that these assets will remain an asset for the organization; keeping our workforce productive and competitive in our business. The HR manager is a both a business and a strategic partner of the company. The HR manager contributes to the development and accomplishments of the companys business strategies and objectives. As a strategic partner, the HR manager designs the companys work positions: hiring, reward, recognition, and strategic pay; performance development and appraisal systems; career and succession planning; and employee development. As business partners, the HR manager have to think like business people, know finance and accounting, and be accountable and responsible for cost reductions and the measurement of all HR programs and processes. The HR manager can be considered as an employee sponsor or advocate, because of the integral role the HR manger plays in the company success due to his knowledge about and advocacy of the people. The expertise of the HR manager includes the managers expertise in creating a work environment in which people will be motivated to work, productive and happy in the co mpany. The HR manager provides employee development opportunities, assistance programs, gain sharing and profit-sharing strategies, due process approaches in solving corporate problems and schedule regular communication opportunities. The HR manager contributes to the company by constantly assessing and ensuring effective HR function. It is also the role of the HR manager to the companys mission, vision, values, goals, and action plan. Managers within the organization will help in handling our personnel. As a big organization with branches and different departments, it will be difficult to handle all the organizations personnel. Line managers can help in managing this problem. Line managers will be the one responsible in handling the personnel under their respective jurisdiction. They will be the one in charge to report to the HR manager all the progress and problems of an employee hey handle. The organizations HRM will be centralized, where the HR manager handles all the personnel through the line managers. By this means all problems in terms of the organizations personnel will be given enough attention and priority.

Symbolism in The Mask of the Red Death Thesis: Poe uses symbolism to unfold this gripping tale of terror. I. The first symbol in the story is the name of the Prince himself, Prince Prospero. II. The ebony clock is another major symbol within this tale. III. The black room is the most prominent symbol in the story but is not clear until the end. The mood of this story is set as a description of the Red Death is laid out for the reader. "The 'Red Death' had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or hideous." (Poe 72) This disease left scarlet stains upon it victims skin. Any victim of this disease was totally shunned by his fellow man. The final throws of this " Red Death " were an agonizing half hour of torment and seizure. Prince Prospero could no longer bear witness to this, so in fear of his life he took himself one thousand of his royal comrades and enough servants for all to a secluded abbey. He was sure the seclusion from the Red Death would save his life. He was wrong! Poe uses his supporting character Prince Prospero, to show the wealth of royalty in this story. This character's speaks of wealth and happiness. Prospero's wealth was so vast that he was easily able to support one thousand of his royal comrades, hundreds of servants, and a seemingly endless number of parties. However, it is very ironic that the prince of prosperity was the first to die. He was murdered by the main character of the story "The Red Death" itself. I believe this was to show the reader that one can not turn their back to society's problems without feeling the effects. The giant ebony clock screamed with the symbolism of the group's short amount of time left in this world. This clock had an over powering chime every hour. The chime paused its victims with disconcert and trepidation. This sound was so clear, and loud that it was heard by all, and even the most joyous grew pale. In the end the clock died just as the "Red Death" had taken its last victim, "And the life of the ebony clock went out with that the last of the gay" (75).

A Summary of ââ¬Å"How Urban Legends Workâ⬠Have you ever heard of the urban legend ââ¬Å"Bloody Maryâ⬠, where you stand in the bathroom with the lights off and the room completely dark and chant ââ¬Å"Bloody Maryâ⬠13 times in the mirror a woman will appear and kill you. In the article of ââ¬Å"How Urban Legends Workâ⬠by Tom Harris, Mr. Harris gives us various examples of different urban legends. Exactly what is an Urban Legend? Urban legends are popular stories that are alleged to be true and are passed from person to person by word of mouth or written communication. In the article ââ¬Å"How Does Urban Legends workâ⬠by Tom Harris, he states that an urban legend is any modern, fictional story, told as truth that reaches a wide audience by being passed from person to person. Are urban legends true or false? Tom Harris stated in his article that most urban legends are not real. In the article Tom Harris gives us examples of different urban legends that have no moral relation to them but they are told and written for amusement. Urban legends are believed by a lot of people only because they donââ¬â¢t take the time to look into things themselves. What makes them so real? Tom Harris stated in his article that some details in an urban legend can really make them seem real and make you believe them. Urban legends have been around for decades but within the last 10 years they have taken the internet by storm. I receive forwards daily from different people that have my email address and some of them always say to forward them on. I never forward because either itââ¬â¢s an urban legend or a chain letter. If I not sure about it I always go back and do the research on it myself. Urban legends come in different forms itââ¬â¢s simply up to you to decide whether they are real or fake. Telling urban legends are just like playing the game telephone, the more you pass it on the story is going to get twisted up somewhere. A few things will be added and some will be taken away from the story. Itââ¬â¢s up to you to dissect the story and research it for yourself.

Both sides of this subject impose arguments based upon moral and financial justifications, and span from the local to national level of legislation. The policy of standardized testing as a means to identify schools who are lacking in successful educational processes neither harm school districts through unequal distribution of power, nor negatively affect studentsââ¬â¢ learning; rather, it benefits students, faculty, and districts by encouraging student success and aiding in improvements for school curriculums.
